David Rosen, Las Vegas, NV I am David Rosen and I am that critic dude. I am mostly known as "Jewish Dave" aroudn Las Vegas, and if you live here, you've surely seen me out and about at movies, concerts, and bars. I was born in Brooklyn, NY on October 4, 1980 and grew up in the Poconos in Pennsylvania. My family and I moved to Las Vegas in 1998 where I currently reside. I work at my family's record shop, Wax Trax Records (2909 S. Decatur Blvd. in Las Vegas, NV) and have attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas for the past 9 years. I started as a communications major and then moved on to music, but recently changed to journalism, where I will stay until I one day accidentally aquire enough credits to graduate. Aside from Wax Trax Records, I've also done promotional work for Sony Music (I was their Lifestyle Marketing Representative for three years), The Syndicate, Comedy Central, Scion and more. I have a street team which I built during my time with Sony Music and combined with my UNLV-based student orgnization, the UNLV Polar Bear Club. Aside from watching movies, listening to music, playing videogames and hanging out, I also make music. I compose instrumentals that I hope to use in film, TV and videogames at some point, and I also produce hip-hop. I also have five different-themed comedy rap groups (which you can read about on my other website, www.polarbearz.net). Our comedy-rap has achieved quite a bit of notoriety around Las Veags for our ridiculous songs and shows. In addition to That Critic Dude, I have written articles for UNLV Director's Cut (a show that airs on Cox Cable Channel 110), the UNLV Rebel Yell (www.unlvrebelyell.com), The Vegas Dog and www.LasVegasRoundTheClock.com. I started this websiteas a place to showcase all of my work. It made more sense to turn it into a full-on media review website, so I invited Oliver to write for me too, and will eventually ahve other writers included as well. If you want to know more about me, come check out my Myspace page at www.myspace.com/jewishdave. I'd love to hear from you all. I want as much feedback on this site, and our reviews, as possible. You are my new friends, so save me a seat nxt time you see me at the movies.
Oliver B. Johnson III, New York, NY The first movie Oliver remembers watching was "Transformers: The Movie." He remembers watching it twice in a row beacuse the TV commercial said, "It's so good you have to see it twice." The first detective he got the chance to meet was named Nate The Great, and his first high school was in a town called River Dale. When he was very young he found a magic ring in a hidden cave. Oliver recalls being taken on an adventure by two brotehrs with the last name Hardy. One of his best friends was a kid that was so smart, people called him Encyclopedia Brown, and the other was this girl with a photographic memory nicknamed Cam Johnson. As a boy, he remembers sitting in a The Crystal Cave with a young boy named Myridden Emrys; later Myridden was given the name Merlin, after a bird from a vision, but now a days Myridden goes by the name Harry Potter. Oliver's first crush was on a babysitter who took him on a wild trip through the "Windy City," but her name could just have easily been Nancy Drew, Sheila The Great, or Veronica Lodge. Oliver often talks
about his first trip to the darker side of human existence with a living
vampire named Morbus. That wasn't the last time, he tells, that he would
face the Creatures of the Night, for he spent a brief time in a small
coast town in California... |
